Two girls from Gujarat drowned off Varca beach in South Goa

Panaji, Aug 7 (UNI) Two girls from Gujarat today drowned off Varca beach in South Goa after a high tied swept them away.

The victims -- identified as Swati Trivedi (24), a resident of Ahmmedabad, and Purvi Gadve (23), a Surat resident -- were brought dead to the Hospicio Hospital in Margao, police said.

A 25-year-old boy, Amit Dubey, who along with the deceased had gone for a swim, was however saved by the doctors.

They were part of a 14-member group of tourists, police added.
