Ten prisoners escape from Buldhana jail
Nagpur, Aug 7 (UNI) Taking advantage of the incessant rain in the area, ten prisoners escaped from the Buldhana Central Jail after breaking open the doors of their cell this morning.
Jail Superintendent I N Pawar told UNI over phone that he was informed by the duty officer at around 0330 hrs that 10 prisoners escaped from the jail under the cover of darkness and taking advantage of heavy rains that have been lashing the district for the last four days.
Immediately an alert was sounded and the guards on duty chased the prisoners, but in vain, he said.
Mr Pawar said he immediately informed the Buldhana main police station and registered a FIR. He has also ordered an inquiry into the circumstances under which the prisoners managed to escape from the jail.
Meanwhile, police at Buldhana said Mr Pawar, in the FIR, mentioned that the prisoners, who were kept in a big cell, had bent the iron rods of the doors of the cell. They went to the side of the toilet and jumped from the wall of the jail between 0300 hrs and 0330 hrs.
The escaped prisoners have been identified as - Nilesh Bhagar, Shyam Pimpale, Bhanudas Pawar, Prafulla Kale, Antya Bhosale, Deeplal Bhosale, Anil Wankhede, Suresh Masale, Prabhu Pawar and Sandeep Wagh, hailing from Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Akola, Buldhana and Washim districts, police added.
