State BJP Unit to gear up for intra-party elections

Pune, Aug 7 (UNI) The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will gear up for party organisational election from September 1, to elect the new leader.

New state BJP spokesman Madhu Chavan told reporters at the conclusion of the three day BJP Party office bearers meet yesterday that of the expected 360 party workers, 329 attended the meet. The party will be gearing up for its intra party election, the division for which are assembly segments and rural areas. A primary membership induction drive will be undertaken from next month with a target of increasing 25-30 per cent members.

The state BJP will launch state wide agitations from August 7 to focus on terrorism, price rise and scarcity of essentials. It will demand for the setting up of special courts for the speedy trial of Mumbai blasts case and other terror acts, and press for POTA, Chavan informed.
