Rupee weakens by four paise, closes at Rs 46.59 per USD

Mumbai, Aug 7 (UNI) The rupee today weakened by four paise to close at Rs 46.59 per US dollar as compared to the previous close of Rs 46.55 per USD, said a trader in the money market.

The domestic currency earlier opened at Rs 46.45/46 per USD and in the mid-morning session traded at 46.46/47 per USD.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 46.49 USD as compared to the previous rate of 46.54 per USD.

The six-month forward premia was fixed at 1.08 per cent and the one year forward premia was fixed at 1.16 per cent.

The rupee was down against other currencies also, against Euro it was down at Rs 59.85, against Pound Sterling it was down at Rs 88.78 and against Yen it was down at Rs 40.45.
