Racket of fake UK job offers unraveled, 4 arrested

New Delhi, Aug 6: Close on the heels of British Council warning people against falling prey to e-mail offers of jobs in the UK, the Delhi Police today uncovered a racket related to fleecing innocent persons with such offer of fake jobs with the arrest of four persons, including three Nigerian nationals.

Forty five year-old Neerja Malik, along with three Nigerians -- Peter AK, Ifeenyirichen Senvel and Green Amagdur -- was arrested from Vasant Kunj area, from which the racket was being operated via e-mail number [email protected] which promised jobs in the UK to people who send in their bio datas.

The police arrest for the four came after one Mohali based youth Manpreet Singh, who had send in a bio data in reply to the offer and subsequently also deposited 380 pounds in an account number mentioned in the e-mail, complained to the local police after another direction to deposit a further 1200 pounds got him suspicious.

Investigation by the local police revealed that the said e-mail originated from the new Delhi district upon which a team of Mohali police was send to Delhi to nab other culprits. During their investigation, the joint team of Mohali and Delhi Police zeroed in on a house in Vasant Kunj and arrested Neeraja and three Nigerians.

During Interrogation, Neerja revealed that she lived in the house on rent and allowed her e-mail to be used for monetary gains.

Several laptops and four mobile phones were recovered from the house.
