PM assures help to flood-hit AP, M'shtra, Gujarat

New Delhi, Aug 7: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today talked to the Chief Ministers of flood-hit Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Orissa on telephone and assured them of the Centre's help for relief work.

''The Army has been kept on a standby for rescue and relief,'' Dr Singh told Mr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy (AP), Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh (Maharashtra), Mr Narendra Modi (Gujarat) and Naveen Pattnaik (Orissa), an official press note said.
