Lankan foreign minister meets CPI leaders
New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, who arrived here last night on a three-day visit, today held discussions with government and political leaders and apprised them of the latest security situation and his government's efforts for a negotiated settlement with the LTTE in the Island nation.
Mr Samaraweera met CPI leaders A B Bardhan, D Raja and Atul Kumar Anjaan and explained them the progress in the current peace process.
The CPI leaders, while sharing the concern for an early solution said that the ceasefire between the government and the LTTE needs to be honoured.
Mr Samaraweera also met Finance Minister P Chidamabaram, Petroleum Minister Murali Deora and Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss. Tomorrow, he is scheduled to meet Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed, Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, Communications and Information and Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran.
He will hold discussions with National Security Advisor M K Narayanan.
