Kurubas dissatisfied with selection of Peethaadhipati
Dharwad, Aug 7 (UNI) Mansuru Revansiddheshwar mutt seer Basavaraj Devaru today opposed the appointment of Shri Nirajan Puri as the new Peethaadhipati of Kanaka Gurpeetha at Kaginele in Haveri district.
In a statement here, he said the appointment had been made against the wishes of the Kuruba community of the north Karnataka region. The Kurubas had wanted a person from the region to be appointed as the new peethaadhipati.
The pontiff said ''We will not accept this. We shall begin the process to set up a separate Kanaka Gurupeetha for Uttar Karnataka region from today itself.'' The appointment of Shri Puri was announced by former Minister and senior Kuruba community leader H Vishwanath in Bangalore today.
