Justice Anand condoles Suraj Bhah's demise

New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) NHRC Chairperson A S Anand today condoled the death of senior BJP leader and National Commission for SC/STs chairman Suraj Bhan.

Bhan, 78, died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here last evening following multiple organ failure.

Justice Anand said the country had lost a ''great messiah'' for the poor and downtrodden and a selfless leader.

''As chairperson of the National Commission for SC/ST, he stood as a warrior for the rights of the scheduled caste community and fought with courage and conviction against casteism,'' he added.

Suraj Bhan rendered useful assistance to the National Human Rights Commission as its deemed member, Justice Anand said.
