Srinagar, Aug 7 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government sanctioned 225 industrial units among as many unemployed youth and also gave clearance to 320 others for setting up their own establishments.

Inaugurating a public awareness campaign on welfare schemes for destitute and orphans, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig distributed sanction orders from the Industries Department among the youth and also gave clearance papers from the Employment Department among them to enable them to start their units.

The budgetary allocation to the Social Welfare Department, Kashmir has been increased from Rs eight crore to Rs 43 crore during the past three years. The number of beneficiaries has also gone up considerably during the period.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Baig regretted that large number of widows and orphans have come up in the Kashmir valley as a result of violence.

He asked the administration to undertake a survey to identify orphans, widows and destitute in every village of the state within three months so that the government could help them.
