Israeli strike hits south Beirut, casualties feared

BEIRUT, Aug 7 (Reuters) An Israeli strike hit a crowded area in Beirut's southern suburb today, damaging buildings and inflicting casualties, security sources said.

They said Israeli rockets hit the Shiyyah neighbourhood that had been spared in Israeli bombardment so far. One hospital received 15 wounded people as rescue worker rushed to the scene, witnesses said.
