Hutch crosses 30 lakh subscribers' mark

Ahmedabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Hutch crossed the landmark 30 lakh subscribers in the State yesterday, according to Sunil Sood, Operations Director-Gujarat.

Announcing this here today, Mr Sood said that with a subscriber base of 20 million last year, a million subscribers were added in just six months from January 1, 2006. ''Hutch has added the fastest ever million subscribers, making it the first operator to touch a new peak,'' he said.

Over the last 12 months, Hutch has focused on rural penetration and has added more than 472 towns covering more than 780 towns and 6,758 villages, Mr Sood said. This massive network expansion has helped Hutch to grow from the two million subscriber base in January 2006 to the three million subscriber base as of today, he said.

''The 'Har Gaon Hutch Gaon' programme has helped us reach the interiors of Gujarat and helped a communication boon to the smallest of villages via the Hutch Network,'' Mr Sood said. Hutch has also opened Anytime Hutch Self Service kiosks (service counters) in 100 locations across Gujarat, he added.
