Hearing of PIL on political ads on Nov 16
Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today adjourned to November 16 the hearing on a PIL seeking directions against misuse of public funds on political advertisments by the state governments of Punjab and Haryana.
The court's division bench comprising acting Chief Justice H S Bedi and Justice R S Randhawa adjourned the hearing to allow time to the state governments to frame a policy in this respect as had been directed at the time of previous hearing on July 18.
The petitioner, however, pointed out that despite the high court observations that such advretisements were a misuse of the state funds, the Patiala Municipal Council and the Improvement Trust, Khanna had issued advertisements that used photographs of political leaders.
