Haryana to set up nuclear power plant: Hooda

Bazpur (Uttaranchal), Aug 7: The Haryana government will set up a nuclear power generation plant in Kumhariah village in Fatehabad district, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today stated.

The nuclear Power Generation Corporation would be setting up this project in Haryana, he said while talking to mediapersons.

When his attention was drawn towards the demand of the people to ply Haryana Roadways buses upto Bazpur and other destinations Mr Hooda said this could be worked out between the transport officals of the two states.

When asked about the significant projects and welfare schemes being implemented by his state, Mr Hooda said Haryana had already achieved the highest per capita income among states (except Goa).

Emphasis was being laid on generating ample employment opportunities for the people, he added.

An ''Education City'' of international standard was being developed at Kundli for which over 2000 acres of land has been acquired, he said and added that this would be named after late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

A 135 km long expressway was being developed to interlink four national highways passing through Haryana, and a global corridor would be developed along this major expressway, he said. He further sai that after his visit to Korea and Japan, there had been a tremendous interest among multinational companies to invest in Haryana.

The current year had been declared as the Year of the Girl Child and a number on incentives had been announced for girls and women so as to raise their socio-economic status, he said. Girls going to schools were being given scholarships and financial assistance was being provided for their weddings, he added.

On the occasion of Rakhi, his government has decided to provide free travel facility to women and children below 15 years of agein State Roadways buses so as to enable the poor to visit their brothers on this auspicious occasion, he added.
