Govt Chief Whip suggests TDP leaders to change their leader

Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Government Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy today suggested the leaders of the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to change their leader (N Chandrababu Naidu) for party's existence in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference along with G Muddu Krishnamma Naidu and other MLAs from Chittoor at the Congress Legislature Party office here, they said the TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu would forfeit his deposits in his Kuppam home constituency in Chittoor distrtict in the next Assembly elections.

The TDP, under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu, had got only nine Municipalites in the state and could not win a single seat in the Cooperative Central Bank elections as the party had lost the confidence of the people, they added.

The TDP could secure only two Zilla Parishad seats out of 22, while the Congress and its allies had won 20 Zilla Parishad posts the leaders said, adding that majority of the Mandal Parishads and ZPTC seats were bagged by the Congress in the recently concluded Local Body Elections.

The results indicated the TDP's position in the state they said and added that the TDP should change its leader to get some seats in the next assembly elections as there was a need for strong Opposition in Andha Pradesh.

Charging the TDP with trying to politicalise the flood situation in the state, G Muddu Krishnamma Naidu said the Opposition was making baseless allegations on the government's sincere efforts in providing rescue and relief measures in the affected areas.
