Former England manager Robson released from hospital
LONDON, Aug 7 (Reuters) Former England manager Bobby Robson was released from hospital today but will undergo further tests later this week.
Robson was taken to hospital during Ipswich's second division home game with Crystal Palace on Saturday after complaining of feeling unwell 10 minutes into the match.
Robson's consultant and friend Hugh Davis told Sky Sports News the 73-year-old underwent routine tests and observation.
''I'm happy to report he left this morning... unaided, with no medical support and he is travelling with his wife Elsie back to his home in Newcastle,'' Davis said.
''He is in good spirits and back to his normal self I'd say.
''There will be some further tests in Newcastle during the week.'' Before the game Robson had been on the pitch waving to the crowd in his new capacity as club president. Robson managed Ipswich for 13 years until 1982 before taking over the England post which he held for eight years.
In May, he had a cancerous tumour removed from a lung. It had been revealed when he had an X-ray examination after a skiing accident.
In a long playing and coaching career, Robson also managed PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona and Newcastle United. In January, he was appointed Ireland's international football consultant to act as mentor to national team manager Steve Staunton.
