Efforts on to refund money to PNL depositors: CM

Pondicherry, Aug 7 (UNI) The government will take steps to return the money to the depositors of the Pondicherry Nidhi Limited(PNL) after getting an order from the court, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the Assembly today.

Replying to a question, Mr Rangasamy said the PNL had cheated 13,000 depositors in Pondicherry to the tune of Rs 120 crore. The government seized all it's property and several cases were pending.

It can return the money to the affected by selling the nidhi's property only after getting the court's direction.

To another question, Mr Rangasamy said the administration would take steps to develop Thengaithittu area as a tourist spot.

He also said about 25 castes, including Viswakarmas, had applied for inclusion in the MBC list from the BC list. The request was under the consideration of the Backward Class Commission.

Steps will be taken to find a solution within three months, he clarified.
