Court remands LeT operatives to judicial custody till August 21
Mumbai, Aug 7 (UNI) MCOCA court today remanded sixteen suspected Laskar-e-Toiba terrorists, arrested from Aurangabad in connection with seizure of arms and ammunition, to judicial custody till August 21.
All the sixteen suspected terrorists were produced before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) judge M R Bhatkar during the day for remand.
Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai Police so far arrested seventeen suspected LeT terrorists in this connection of which one Firoz Deshmukh, arrested on August three, is in the police custody till August 14.
The ATS, in their joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May 9, arrested three terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) near the Ghrushneshwar Temple at Verul village and seized arms and ammunition from them after a chase of about 80 kms.
On the basis of the information provided by the arrested persons, the ATS arrested 14 more persons in four phase operations during June, July and August and recovered arms and ammunitions.
ATS recovered 16 AK-47 rifles, 3200 live catridges of AK-47, 62 magazines, 43 kg of explosive substances and 50 hand-grenades from the arrested persons.
Suspected LeT operative Afroz Khan, who was involved in the conspiracy to transport explosives and surrendered before this court on June 13, was among the sixteen remanded to judicial custody.
