Court grants bail to former MP Anand Mohan
Patna, Aug 7 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to former MP Anand Mohan in connection with a case related to manhandling and obstructing a public servant in discharging his duty.
Mr Mohan, incarcerated in Saharsa jail, was escorted here and produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Mithilesh Kumar Rai amid tight security. The court remanded him in judicial custody till August 21.
Later the MP's advocate Digambar Singh moved a petition in the court seeking permission to furnish bail bond as the offences are bailable.
Hearing the petition, the court granted bail to Mr Mohan and allowed him to furnish a bond of Rs five thousand with two sureties of the same amount.
The matter would be heard again on August 21.
Earlier, Mr Mohan had manhandled and tried to obstruct a public servant in discharging his official duty at Patna railway junction on July 16. An FIR was lodged at the Kotwali police station and five people, including Mr Mohan, were made accused. The other four are already on bail.
