CM seeks help from Army for relief operations
Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Concerned over the grim flood situation in Andhra Pradesh where the toll mounted to 94 with Godavari and Krishna rivers flowing above the danger mark, the Centre today decided to depute Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to take stock of the situation on August nine.
After the Chief Ministers of the flood-affected states spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on phone, seeking the Centre's help to tide over the situation, the Union Government decided to send Mr Patil to know first hand on the gravity of the situation, official sources here said.
Mr Patil would go an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas in the affected states, including Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra when State Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would submit a memorandum for liberal central assistance for relief and rehabilitation works, sources added.
