BJP demands scrapping of GO

Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today sought the scrapping of the GO giving exemption to Muslim educational institutions in allotment of seats and suggested that the government should introduce a policy through which these institutions would be compelled to publicly display merit list.

In a letter to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Party National Secretary and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said due to the GO, merit students were denied seats in professional courses like Medicine and Engineering and only those who could pay high donations were getting admission.

Mr Dattatreya also demanded the appointment of a high-power committee to review the admissions in minority institutions for the past five years.
