Bengal CPI(M) to convince people about land acquisition
Kolkata, Aug 7 (UNI) Acting as a facilitator of the state's move for industrialisation, the CPI(M) in West Bengal today decided to mobilise public opinion in favour of acquisition of land.
As the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Government continued to grapple with Opposition of farmers in its move to acquire farm land for industrial projects like that of the Tatas, the CPI(M) State Committee, at its meeting, declared that it would take part in the process for preparing a land map to identify plots for setting up industries.
''The party will explain to the people the implication of a land map, which is necessary for overall development of the state, and mobilise public opinion in favour of it. The state Committee appeals, who want development, to rise above political barriers and lend assistance to this exercise, '' a statement issued by the party said.
Presided over by Binoy Krishna Konar, the 13th state committee meeting discussed organisational matters in districts.
