Athletics coach satisfied with wards' fitness for SAF Games

Patiala, Aug 7 (UNI) Ahead of this month's SAF Games in Sri Lanka, chief coach Bahadur Singh today expressed his satisfaction after the national athletics confirmatory-cum-physical fitness assessment trials at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports today.

This day-night trial was a follow up of the assessment trials held here on July 30 to select the men and women athletes for SAF Games which starts on August 18 in Colombo.

Today's trials were held in the events of 110mh (men), Long Jump (men and women), High Jump (men and women), Discus (men and women), 100mh (women), 4x100 Relay (men), 4x100 Relay (women), Shot Put (men and women), Triple Jump (men), Javelin (men and women), 800m (men), 4x400m (men) and 400mh (men).

Later, Bahadur Singh told UNI ''I am very much satisfied with the performance of the men and women athletes.'' He also informed that similar trials are to be held again on August 14 at the NIS before the Indian athletic contingent is finalised for the SAF Games.
