Chennai, Aug 7 (UNI) AREVA T&D India, a leading provider of products, systems and services to the electric transmission and distribution industry, has been awarded the prestigious contract to establish the National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) in New Delhi from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL).

The NLDC is to schedule and dispatch electricity to five Regional Load Dispatch Centres (RLDC). The project includes planning, design, engineering and supply of state-of-the-art hardware and software for implementation of the NLDC, a company release here said.

The NLDC project is in line with the Ministry of Power's decision to move towards a full-fledged integrated National Power Grid in the country, to enable optimum scheduling and dispatch of electricity among all the five Regional Load Dispatch Centres (RLDCs), as per the stipulations of the Electricity Act 2003, it said.

The National Load Dispatch Centre shall be the apex control to ensure integrated operation of India's national power system. Its main functions include supervision of the five RLDCs, inter-regional links to ensure stability and efficiency of the National grid, scheduling and dispatch of electricity over inter-regional links and coordination with RLDCs for achieving maximum economy, the release added.
