AKNU asked to cough up Rs 20 cr for land

Rajahmundry, Aug 7 (UNI) Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU), Incharge Vice-Chancellor and Andhra University Vice-Chancellor L Venugopala Reddy today said the East Godavari District administration had sought Rs 20 crore for land acquisition.

Addressing newspersons prof Venugopal Reddy said AKNU required 305 acre of land at Velugubandha for construction of buildings.

Higher Education Chairman K C Reddy had been informed of district administration's plea. Prof K C Reddy then met Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for the funds.

Prof Venugopala Reddy said the administration would hand over the land within 45 days of remittance of funds. Prof Reddy said admission had begun for six courses from today.

The non-teaching and teaching faculty posts would be filled up as the government had granted permission. He said AKNU would approach philanthropists to contribute towards building fund.
