3 die in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra's Buldhana district
Akola, Aug 7 (UNI) Two minor girls and a middle-aged man died in separate incidents of wall collapse due to incessant rains in the adjoining Buldhana district of Maharashtra.
Police said Megha Sanghpal Wankhede (5) of Mandka village in Khamgaon 'taluka' of Buldhana and Mukund Shriram Mirge (45) of Matargaon village in Shegaon 'taluka' of the same district died yesterday in wall collapse.
In another incident, a two-and-a-half-year old girl Shaijal Dadarrao Thombre, of Kondoli village near Washim district town was killed instantly in a wall collapse incident last night, police said.
Meanwhile, a jeep in which eight members of a family from Amravati were travelling sank in flood waters near Chikhli 'tehsil' in Buldhana yesterday. While five of the family members have been rescued, three are still missing even as their search is on, according to Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
Besides, a Lonar-bound State transport bus has been reported missing in flood waters of river Pain Ganga in Buldhana. Seven persons including a woman were reported missing, while five persons were rescued last evening by a helicopter brought from Nanded, District Guardian Minister Dr Rajendra Shingne said.
Several villages in West Vidarbha have been submerged in knee-deep waters and their communication links have got disrupted, officials said.
Rising flood waters have been posing a severe problem to district and official machinery in undertaking rescue and relief operations there, sources said.
