Six fishermen rescued in the Bay of Bengal
Kolkata, Aug 6 (UNI) Six fishermen were rescued tonight in the Bay of Bengal by a Port Trust vessel after their fishing trawler sunk, some 72 kms off the sandhead of Sagar Island, KoPT sources said.
The fishing trawler, which was carrying six fishermen, sunk while returning from the deep sea tonight.
However, ''Anusandhani'', a pilot vessel of Kolkata Port Trust after receiving SOS rushed to the spot and rescued the six men and brought them to Sagar Island, some 100 kms south of Kolkata, sources said.
The trawler, however, could not be salvaged.
