Selja urges HSIIDC, ITPO to organise trade fair at Panchkula

Chandigarh, Aug 6 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation and Urban Employment Kumari Selja urged the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) and India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) to organise a trade fair in this region, preferably at Panchkula, near here.

She said the trade fair would apprise the small entrepreneurs of Haryana, Punjab and neighbouring Himachal Pradesh about the benefits of such exhibitions and also give them exposure in international expositions so as to enable them export their products.

Ms Selja said that while entrepreneurs of large and medium scale units were aware of the benefits of trade expositions, those of small scale units were yet to get an exposure.

She said that Panchkula was emerging as an industrial centre and an IT Park would come up at this place.

The minister informed that Ambala would get added infrastructure facilities and a centre of excellence would also be set up. A Rs 76 crore project in this regard was already under active consideration of the government.

She said the UPA government at the Centre has given a number of incentives to the industrial units and the route of FDI investment has been simplified.

HSIIDC Managing Director Rajeev Arora at the presentation meeting on ITPO activities organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), HSIIDC, PHD Chamber of Commerce of Industry and Gurgaon Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Panchkula yesterday evening appreciated the initiative taken by Ms Selja in motivating the ITPO to organise such a meet for the benefit of small entrepreneurs.

He said a technology park would be floated in Panchkula in next five to six months. All industrial plots in the Barwala estate have been allotted and now there was a plan to expand this industrial estate over an area of 300 acres, he added.

Mr Arora informed that DLF has submitted a proposal to set up a Special Economic Zone at Ambala over an area of 2,500 acre.

He said as per the announcement made by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a full industrial estate spread over an area of 700 acres would be developed at Jagadhri.

Mr Yadav said with the changing scenario, Africa offered a big market.

He said that the Indian entrepreneurs should participate in the South Africa International Trade Exhibition to be held at Johannesburg from October 10 to 13 this year.

He expected atleast 10 entrepreneurs from Haryana for this trade exhibition.

He said 26th India International Trade Fair would be held at New Delhi from November 14 this year and expected three lakh business visitors and three million general visitors and participation from 33 countries at the fair.
