Politicians, muslim leaders discuss vital issues
Mysore, Aug 6 (UNI) Educational advancement, socio-economic development and communal harmony are among the issues discussed at the two-day conference on the development of the muslim community.
Top political leaders, including Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha K Rehman Khan and representatives from the community, took part in the brainstorming session which concluded here today.
The closed-door conference was organised by the recently formed Centre for Community Development at Bangalore.
According to the organisers, the participants deliberated on the need to bring about political advancement, socio economic development, using Wakf property for community development, empowerment of women and communal harmony.
Wakf and Haj Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan and Islamic Scholar Maulana Khadeer Ahmed Amri addressed the gathering.
Former Ministers Qamrul Islam, C R Sageer Ahmed, R Roshan Baig, B A Mohiudeen and Naseer Ahmed, Lok Sabha MP Iqbal Ahmed Sardagi, legislators Syed Yasin and Saleem Ahmed also attended the conference.
