National Capital Region treated as local for speed post
New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) To integrate satellite towns, the entire National Capital Region (NCR) covering areas like Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad will be treated as ''local'' for Speed Post, the government said today.
Also, 14 new post offices will come in these outlying areas. An integrated mail processing system has been made operational to esnure that all letters posted and meant for delivery in Delhi or its adjoining satellite towns are delivered the next day in these towns.
Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran gave the approval to treat the satelite towns on the same footing as that of Delhi with regard to postage rates for Speed Post and Express Parcel Post articles with effect from August 15.
The Communication Ministry said Speed Post and Express Parcel Post articles booked in and destined for Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Guragon and Faridabad will be treated as 'local' for the purpose of Speed Post Tariff.
The rates for local speed post upto 200 grams is Rs 20 and the rate for local Express Parcels upto 3 Kg is Rs 30.
The Ministry said this will keep pace with the development and growth in these areas and will also integrate the mail systems of these towns more closely with Delhi and with each other.
Two new post offices will comeup in Rohini, and Gurgaon--Sushant Lok and IMT Manesar, south city-1, DLF-phase-11 and DLF-phase-111 will have one each.
Faridabad will have a post office in NHPC colony and NOIDA, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad will have five new post offices each.
Also mobile post ofices have begun thees operations in Rohini and Dwarka.
The Instant Money Order (IMO) service has been extended to Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad.
