Murder of Inderlok family solved, relative arrested for crime
New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) The Delhi police have solved the case of the gruesome murder of seven family members in Inderlok area on July 31, which had sent shock waves through the capital, with the arrest of Sanjay Babu, a close relative of the family.
The Delhi police, last evening arrested Sanjay, the nephew of Om Prakash Rathod, who along with his wife Santosh and their five children were brutally murdered at their 'D' Block residence in Inderlok area of Sarai Rohilla on Monday, Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul told mediapersons here.
28-year-old Sanjay, who was picked up from Azadpur Mandi at about 1800 hours yesterday, admitted to have committed the ghastly crime after interrogation, Mr Paul said.
During the interrogation, Sanjay revealed that he visited the deceased family on July 26 and had seen his aunt give Rs 50000 to a relative. Later, when he learnt that his uncle was in a small time money lending business, he, suspecting that there was a lot of money in the house, made a plan to loot that money.
Sanjay also bore a grudge against the Rathod family for throwing him out of the house along with his family, a few years ago, following some altercation.
On the night of July 30, he visited the house of Rathods. As he was known to the family, he gained an easy entry. He also had dinner with the family, Mr Paul said.
While Om Prakash and his wife were killed on the ground floor which houses a cardboard manufacturing unit owned by the Rathods, their children were murdered on the first floor. Sanjay send the children outside on the pretext of conducting a pooja and called them inside one by one and killed them by slitting their throat.
He also obtained Rs 30000 by threatening the eldest daughter Manju of which he spend Rs 10000 while Rs 20000 was recovered from his possession.
Sanjay vias produced in a local court which remanded him to seven-day police remand, Mr Paul said.
