Mau again tense after damage of religious portraits
Lucknow, Aug 6 (UNI) Tension again gripped Mau town of Eastern Uttar Pradesh last night after some miscreants damaged portraits inside a religious place under Kotwali police station area.
Additional police force have been deployed in the area after people raised provocative slogans to protest the incident.
Police sources here said the incident occurred at a religious place in Niyajipur locality in Mau. The miscreants damaged the portraits and fled away before people could resist them.
A case has been filed against unknown persons while senior police officials were camping on the spot.
Mau town was witnessing tension for the last four days after the son of a BJP leader was shot dead leading to arson and protest by the students and lawyers. Schools and colleges have been closed down past four days while Mau observed bandh yesterday.
