Kanam Rajendran elected as AITUC general secretary

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 6 (UNI) The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Kerala unit today elected Kanam Rajendran as the new General Sectretary and C A Kurian as President.

The two-day state general council of the AITUC suggested Mr Rajendran to the post as Mr C Divakaran had become a Minister in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government.

The meeting welcomed the the steps taken by the LDF government in the labour and industrial sector, a release said here today.

The meeting urged the government to take initiative to prepare an action plan on a priority basis after discussing with various trade union organisaions.

Following are the other office bearers: Mr C Krishnan, Mr K P Prabhakaran, Mr E A Kumaran, Mr T Krishnan, Mr K M Kuttikrishnan, Mr Vazhoor Soman, Mr P Subramanian and Ms P Vijayamma as vice preisents and Mr Vijayan Kunissery, Mr A N Rajan, Mr M Radhakrishnan Nair, Mr R J Anjalose, Mr P Raju, Mr J Udayabhanu and Mr M Sujanapriyan as secretaries and Mr S Karunakara Kurup would be new treasurer.
