Gujjars threaten agitation over reservation in ST issue

Jaipur, Aug 6 (UNI) Rajasthan Gujjar Mahasabha has threatened agitation again in fullfilment of its long standing demand for inclusion of the community in the Scheduled Tribe list for reservation.

Addressing a press conference here today, Jaipur Zilla Pramukh and president of the Mahasabha Ram Gopal Gurd said the BJP government in the state has constituted a six-member ministerial committee led by state Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria to look into the issue. He said the committee had to submit its report within three months but even after the lapse of one year, the report has not yet been submitted.

He said the government has been buying time on one pretext or the other and it seems they lack politcial will. The Gujjar community will be forced to take to streets again.

He said the first anniversary of the agitation on August 21 would be observed as ''Chetawani Divas'' and dharna and demonstrations would be organsied in all district headquarters on that day. He said a grand demonstration of about 3.5 lakh people would converge in jaipur on August 21 to press for their demand.
