Guj University bans sale of Pepsi, Coke in campus

Ahmedabad, Aug 6 (UNI) Following the 'pesticides in cola' controversy, Gujarat University has banned the sale of aerated drinks on its campus.

In a circular issued yesterday, Vice Chancellor Parimal Trivedi said all the affiliated colleges and institutes will have to stop the sale of soft drinks in canteens and campuses with immediate effect.

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) had in its report last week pointed to the presence of pesticides in aerated drinks. This has led to various demonstrations across the country, with activists smashing Pepsi and Coke bottles, and calling for ban on the products.
