Chouhan confirms Dayaram severely injured

Bhopal, Aug 6 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today confirmed that dacoit chieftain Dayaram Gadaria was severely injured in a police encounter and a search was underway.

''The encounter took place yesterday in a forest within Shivpuri district with the most-wanted gang that carries a total reward of Rs 15 lakh. Evidence found on the scene indicated that Dayaram was slain,'' he told reporters here.

A SLR, suspected to be the bandit's weapon, was seized and a sizeable quantity of blood observed.

''That district is experiencing rain since last night and the police are facing a challenging task,'' Mr Chouhan added.

The encounter took place during a search.
