Cabinet meets tomorrow to finalise ATR on Pathak Committee report

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) The Union Cabinet will meet tomorrow morning to finalise Action Taken Report (ATR) over the Justice R S Pathak Inquiry Authority report on the Oil-for-Food scam.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will chair the cabinet meeting at 0945 hrs. Finance Minister P Chidambaram will lay a copy of the Pathak Authority Report along with an ATR in both the houses of the Parliament tomorrow.

Mr Justice R S Pathak had submitted his report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday evening.

Portion of the report was leaked and reported by a section of the media. The issue rocked Parliament on Friday with the opposition and the supporting Left parties demanding a probe into the alleged leakage of the report.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi had assured the Lok Sabha that the government will investigate into the matter.

In an interesting development, former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh served a privilege notice against the Prime Minister in the Rajya Sabha secretariat. This is the first time a member belonging to the Congress has moved a privilege motion against the Prime Minister of his own party.

Earlier CPI leader A B Bardhan and NDA convenor George Fernandes met Mr Singh and extended their support to his move.
