Abdul Hameed remanded in police custody till Aug 11 in robbery case
Mumbai, Aug 6 (UNI) A local court today remanded Abdul Hameed, an accused in a robbery case and a suspect in serial blasts in the local trains in Mumbai, in police custody till August 11.
Hameed who was produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate (Holiday) at Esplanade court in south Mumbai for his alleged involvement in a robbery case registered against him at the Agripada police station in South Central Mumbai, was brought to Mumbai late last night from Jammu and Kashmir by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).
Hameed's identity card was found in a train compartment which was blown apart in the serial bomb blasts on the city's suburban trains on July 11.
The identity card revealed that he was working as a guard for a private security agency in the Western suburbs. The ATS, investigating the blasts, found that not only he had not reported for duty but was also missing from his Nalasopara residence since the blasts.
He was arrested in a joint operation by the ATS and Jammu and Kashmir Police and was brought to Mumbai late last night on transit remand.
