Water level on the rise in West Godavari districts
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 5 (UNI) The district officials of West Godavari district have sounded a high alert in view of rising water level.
According to reports received here, the water level had reached to seven feet at Polavaram village.
District Collector Lav Agarwal, who visited Polavaram village, said as many as 4000 people were shifted to safer places.
Mr Agarwal said four Mandal Revenue Officers were appointed to review the progress at relief camps in the agency area.
About 60 boats were deployed to evacuate flood victims to safer places.
In Narsapuram division, eight island villages were inundated.
Joint Collector Durga Das, who had been camping at Narsapuram to monitor the situation said the water level had reached to 20 feet, and by tomorrow morning it could touch 22 feet.
