Two teenaged killed, 10 injured in house collapse

Akola, Aug 5 (UNI) Two teenagers were killed and 10 others injured in a house collapsed in Kothdi Bazar area in the heart of the city today morning.

According to police sources, a three storyed old building collapsed like cards killing Ms Arba Mohsin Khamosi (16) and Mr Mohd Mohsin Abdul Kayyum (10). Ms Arba Mohsin was not the resident of the building and came to study in an adjacent building at the time of collapse.

The building is owned by Mr Anwarbhai Fruitwale (Fruit seller) who was served a notice by the municipal corporation to demolish the building some four years ago. The building is stated to be 50 years old and situated in a very congested locality.

The rescue work is on on a war footing to trace out the persons who were trapped under the debris of the buidling.

Gulam Mohd (18), S K Imran (14), Jamil (30) Abdul Karim alias Munna Khan, Gulshan Bano (30), Ikbal (40), Arifabi Shaikh (40) were rescued from the debris and hospitalised in the general hospital here, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the city and adjacent area have been experiencing a heavy downpour since last night, throwing normal life out of gear.

The rainfall recorded during last 24 hours is 63 mm wheras the total rainfall records till today is 413 mm.
