Imphal, Aug 5: Life was partially affected today following the Movement for Tribal People's Rights Manipur (MTPRM), the All Colleges Tribal Students' Organisation, Manipur, (ACTSOM) and other organisations-sponsored dawn-to dusk bandh in the hill areas.

Most of the schools remained open and oil depots and business establishments functioned more or less as usual.

However, plying of vehicles was thin in some districts.

The bandh was called to protest the alleged misuse of fund meant for school education and Some other organisations like the Kuki Students Organisation, General Head Quarter (GHQ) and All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) said they were not a party to the bandh.

Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee had demanded that actions be taken against those allegedly involved in the killing of a person from Shaumushang, Imphal, earlier.

They said the Uripok-Kangchup road will be indefinitely blocked from August six if the government did not initiate action against the killers.

Unidentified gunmen shot dead one R K Pratap at Senapati district on August three for alleged failure to fulfil the extortion demand of the suspected militants. The body of the deceased was yet to be taken by the family members demanding action.

The driver of the vehicle in which Pratap was travelling was also injured and recovering at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.
