Survival hopes of Kharif crop brightens in Beed district
Beed, (Maharashtra) Aug 5 (UNI) Incessant rainfall for the last 24 hours, after a gap of nearly a fortnight, has brightened survival chances of the Kharif crop in the district.
The Kharif crop which is cultivated over an area of 5.5 lakh hectares here, was in dire need of a further spell of rainfall, since the last 15 days.
The rains that have lashed the district since the last 24 hours have fulfilled the maximum need of the crop, even as the storage level of water in small and medium irrigation projects too has witnessed a considerable rise, official sources at the district headquarters said here today.
The district has registered a total rainfall of 376 mm in last 24 hours.
