Steps to trace woman who abandoned child

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Aug 5 (UNI) Police today handed over a one-and-half-year old baby found abandoned in a bus here on August 2, to Annai Teresa Children Home here, Police said the crew after spotting the bady on August 2, handed the child over to the Lady Inspector, Sumati, who was on duty.

The cop took the baby to the police station, but norms and regulations did not permit the police station to keep the baby at night. The baby was subsequently taken to a Church at Thamalwar Street. But they also expressed their inability to keep the baby with them.

Efforts were on to nab the woman, who left the baby in the lurch and an investigation from various angles was underway, police added.
