SMC's octroi revenue to rise as new areas join in
Surat, Aug 5 (UNI) Surat Municipal Corporation's (SMC) revenue through octroi is likely to increase to Rs 450 crore this year, with more areas coming under its jurisdiction.
SMC special Deputy Commissioner Pradipsinh Jhala said during the period from April to July, the civic body had collected Rs 145 crore as octroi, while the octroi collection for the corresponding period last year was Rs 130 crore.
SMC is also conducting a survey to identify points to set up new check posts in the newly-added areas, he added.
