RJD MP Shahabuddin flown to AIIMS

Patna, Aug 5 (UNI) Amid unprecedented security arrangements, incarcerated RJD MP Md Shahabuddin was today being flown to New Delhi from Siwan jail for treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Accompanied by the Sub-divisional Police Officer of Maharajganj and two other police officers of Siwan, the leader was brought here in an ambulance and driven straight to the airport.

He said Police Superintendent of Siwan Sunil Kumar was also present at the airport.

Mr Kumar said a team of Siwan police was already camping in New Delhi to facilitate the treatment of the MP.

Earlier, hearing a criminal writ petition, Patna High Court directed the state government on July 31 to provide treatment to Md Shahabuddin at AIIMS.

The court had also asked the AIIMS management to inform about the health condition of the MP within two weeks.

In case the treatment prolonged beyond two weeks, the court directed to conduct the trial of cases against Md Shahabuddin through video conferencing from New Delhi.

Md Shahabuddin, suffering from severe backache, had filed a writ petition before the court for facilitating proper treatment of his ailment.

Earlier, a team of doctors, including Dr Vijaya Prakash, Dr A K Agrawal, Dr S N Singh and Dr A K Pandey, had examined Md Shahabuddin inside Siwan jail and suggested for adequate treatment.
