Rain adds to the woes of flood victims
Gulbarga, Aug 5: Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy's visit to the district to make an aerial survey was put off due to bad weather by a few hours and he would be arriving this evening from Belgaum.
Incessant rain since last evening in this flood-hit district of Karnataka has added to the woes of flood victims with many low lying areas being inundated and normal life in the city and surrounding areas was badly affected.
However, River Bhima continued to be in spate due to heavy discharge of water from reservoirs in Maharashtra.
Officials said many villages in the district were cut off with water overflowing on roads and bridges.
The Jewargi branch canal flowing to the brim due to a 15-meter wide breach. Timely action by the officials who closed the canal gates saved the nearby villages from being inundated.
Meanwhile, the body of a farmer who was feared washed away in flood waters of Krishna in Supur taluk was found today. He was identified as Ravikumar (24).
