Pregnant woman stabbed to death

Lucknow, Aug 5 (UNI) A pregnant woman was stabbed to death in the posh Civil Lines area of Bareilly city in western Uttar Pradesh oday.

Police said here some miscreants barged into the house of trader Brahmanand Agarwal this afternoon and struck his wife Gita with a baton on her head.

Later, the criminals stabbed Gita's daughter-in-law Ritu with a dagger and escaped from the terrace before the neighbours could come to their rescue.

The two women were rushed to hospital, where Ritu succumbed to her wounds.

Sources said the crime appeared to be a case of contract killing, since Brahmanand's son had a love marriage with Ritu.

Meanwhile, dog squad had been pressed into service to trace the culprits.
