PI arrested in bribery case, 3 policemen also booked
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 5 (UNI) Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested police inspector (PI) Dr Kanchan Chate and have registered an offence against him and five others including three policemen on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.
According to the details, police inspector Dr Chate had demanded a bribe of Rs 4,000 from the complainant for releasing his brother's auto rickhsaw siezed by the police. The accused, including the PI allegedly accepted the bribe and escaped in a car along with the complainant. The accused have allegedly destroyed the proof of bribery in vain, it is alleged by the complainant, the ACB release said.
The ACB here, has registered an offence against the PI, five others including three policemen following a complaint lodged by the Jalna ACB.
The accused have been booked under Sections 7, 12, 13 (1), including (d), 13 (2) of the Anti Corruption Act 1988 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code.
The ACB has also carried out a search in the house of Dr Chate so far, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP-ACB), Pravin Kulkarni said.
