PCC Chief demands calling special session to discuss law

Jaipur, Aug 5 (UNI) Rajasthan Pradesh Congress president BD Kalla has demanded convening of a special session of the state Assembly to discuss the drought and law and order situation in the state.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Kalla quoting figures said the state's law and order situation has taken a turn for the worse. Its said compared to last year murder cases has increased by 4.80 per cent. robbery has reported a spurt of 11.33 per cent. He added. Atrocities against women has also shown an upward trend with an increase of 5.42 per cent rise in rape while dowry deaths showed an alarming increase of 10.40 per cent.

Mr Kalla said the drought situation in the state is a cause for concern with 16 out of 32 districts receiving below normal rainfall. But he said the state government has been doing nothing to alleviate the suffering of the farmers. He said instead the Vasundhara Raje government is spending lavishliy for luxuries like planes and costly cars.
