Pawar surprised at WB CM's outburst after Dalmiya's win

Mumbai, Aug 5 (UNI) Union Agriculture Minister and BCCI president Sharad Pawar today expressed surprise at West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattarcharjee's outburst following the victory of Jagmohan Dalmiya as the Cricket Associal of Bengal President.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Pawar said Mr Bhattarcharjee is known to be a polite and articulate person.

''I do not know what the provocation was. If there was any , I am not aware'', he added.

Refusing to make any comments on Mr Dalmiya's re-election as the CAB president, Mr Pawar said these were state association elections and the BCCI had no role to play.

The West Bengal CM had described Dalmiya's win as the victory of the evil which would not do any good for the state. He had also declared that the battle against Dalmiya would continue and he would see to it that Dalmiya was out of CAB.

Mr Bhattarcharjee had also asked Dalmiya to remain out of the fray before the elections. .

When asked whether former India skipper Sourav Ganguly would make to the World Cup team, Mr Pawar said BCCI does not interfere with issues that are prerogative of the Selection Committee.

On asked about the fitness of Sachin Tendulkar, Mr Pawar said, ''I am not a doctor. Earlier, it was said that Sachin is fit. Today, I read in newspapers that our coach says Sachin is not hundred percent fit. Any final decision is taken by the captain, coach, physio and the selection committee''.
